Departmental Chairs and Committees initiate Tenure and Promotion Review of candidates.

College Committees initiate Tenure and Promotion Review of candidates.

Deans begin their review of the candidates and the recommendations of the Department Chair, Department Committees and College Committee. Note: The dean's office is responsible for assembling the required documents which will be forwarded to the Provost. Please contact Ann Harbor, if you need assistance with this step in the Tenure and Promotion process.

Monday, December 3, 2007

Required documents from the candidates' dossiers and recommendations of Departmental Chairs, Department Committees, College Committees, and Deans must be delivered to the Provost. The Provost will begin his review of candidates.

Candidates notified of the Provost's recommendations no later than Friday, February 8, 2008.

• Provost's recommendations forwarded to the President for review.
• Candidates receiving a negative recommendation from the Provost must contact the Chair of the Appeals Committee if they intend to appeal the recommendation. This must be done no later than the first week after receiving notification of a negative recommendation.

Tuesday, April 1, 2008

Recommendations by the Appeals Committee are forwarded to the President for review. Candidates will be notified of the President's recommendation.

• The Tennessee Board of Regents will be notified of the President's recommendations of the candidates for tenure and/or promotion.
• The Tennessee Board of Regents will review and vote on the University's recommendations at its June meeting. The University is notified of the Board's decisions usually mid-July.
• Upon notification of the Board's approval, the President will notify the candidates of the TBR decision.
