GRADUATE SCHOOL FELLOWSHIPS & AWARDS
FOR CURRENTLY ENROLLED STUDENTS

The following fellowships and awards are offered through the Graduate School. Additional information may be obtained by phone at 901-678-4212, or in person, 215 Administration Building.

Students must be nominated by their department or college for the following awards:

Graduate Performance and Art Purchase Awards--Annual performance awards of $500 are given to graduate students from the College of Communication and Fine Arts for creative achievement. The College accepts nominations from the department and then makes its decision. The Graduate School purchases an art work chosen by the outside juror of the Annual Juried Student Exhibit.

Morton Thesis/Dissertation Awards--The awards are a result of a generous donation by S. Morgan Mortion ('63). The awards honor outstanding master's and doctoral students whose thesis or dissertation prospectus has been approved by their committee.

Graduate Assistant Meritorious Teaching Awards--These awards are presented to two outstanding teaching assistants. Candidates are nominated by faculty, students, or alumni.

Students may apply directly for the following award:

University of Memphis Society, Inc. Doctoral Fellowship--The University of Memphis Society, Inc. annually awards a fellowship to a full-time doctoral student based on exceptional academic achievement. The amount varies from year to year.

First Generation Ph.D. Fellowship--The purpose of this award is to provide financial assistance to graduate students who will be the first person in their immediate family to earn a doctorate and who are underrepresented in their respective disciplines.
