Fresh Start
You will be granted an Academic Fresh Start once
your application has been approved by the college dean. An Academic
Fresh Start is granted only once. Your permanent record will retain
a record of all past course work; additionally, you will forfeit
the use of graded course work from any college or University for
degree purposes at The University of Memphis earned prior to the
4-year separation. The
date of the Academic Fresh Start will coincide with the date of
re-entry following the prolonged separation and the permanent
record will also carry the notation, GPA and credit totals are
based only on work beginning with that date. That date will be
treated as the date of entry in determining which Undergraduate
Bulletin may be used for graduation.
The University of Memphis honors
the Academic Fresh Start when completed at other accredited institutions
of higher education. Preliminary information and application forms
may be obtained from the Office of Academic Status & Retention,
Suite 200 Wilder Tower.
