Vice Provost for Assessment, Institutional Research and Reporting

elcome to the office of the Vice Provost for Assessment, Institutional Research and Reporting. The vice provost is responsible for oversight of academic assessment activities for the University of Memphis, academic planning, and institutional research. The vice provost uses assessment data to recommend and implement policies and initiatives that will ensure the overall quality of academic programs and student success. The vice provost also manages the following administrative areas:

  • Office of Institutional Research -- OIR provides information to academic and administrative units in support of policy formation, planning and decision making. This office identifies trends that affect university resources, reports to governmental agencies that monitor the activities and assets of the University, and serves as the centralized electronic repository of archived information on students, faculty and staff.
  • Advanced Learning Center -- ALC The Advanced Learning Center advises and assists faculty in course design and delivery techniques as well as researches innovative technologies for effective use in the teaching and learning environment.
  • Curriculum and Assessment -- Coordinates accreditation site visits, curriculum development, program peer review, senior testing, alumni and current student surveys. This office also administers Tennessee's higher education assessment program.

Our ongoing assessment of academic programs provides a valuable tool for decision-making about resource allocation and program imlementation.
